Job Title: Level 2 Network Engineer

Summary:

ANC Group is seeking a highly skilled Level 2 Network Engineer to join our growing team. This position will be a Hybrid position requiring some on-site work at client sites. We are looking for candidates located in the eastern Carolinas. Ideally, along the I-95 corridor to facilitate support of our clients in that region. As a Level 2 Network Engineer, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting customers wired/wireless network infrastructure along with providing helpdesk support to our Managed Service clients.  You will work closely with our Level 1 support team to escalate and resolve network issues efficiently. Additionally, you will be involved in designing, implementing, and optimizing network solutions to meet our growing customer base.  This position will report to the COO and will consist of remote and onsite customer support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Network Monitoring and Maintenance:
    • Monitor network performance and ensure optimal operation.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as firmware upgrades, patch management, and system backups.
    • Proactively identify and resolve network bottlenecks and performance issues.
  2. Incident Response and Troubleshooting:
    • Serve as the escalation point for Level 1 support technicians for complex network issues.
    • Investigate and troubleshoot network outages and connectivity problems promptly.
    • Coordinate with vendors and other technical teams to resolve issues that require external support.
  3. Network Security:
    • Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
    • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with security policies and industry standards.
    • Respond to security incidents and mitigate potential threats effectively.
  4. Network Design and Implementation:
    • Participate in the design and implementation of network infrastructure projects, including LAN/WAN expansion, network upgrades, and migrations.
    • Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration of new network solutions with existing systems.
    • Document network configurations, diagrams, and procedures for future reference.
  5. Capacity Planning and Optimization:
    • Assess network capacity and performance requirements and make recommendations for upgrades or optimizations.
    • Work with vendors and service providers to procure necessary hardware, software, and services.
    • Implement performance tuning and optimization strategies to improve network efficiency and reliability.
  6. Continuous Learning and Professional Development:
    • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to networking.
    • Pursue relevant certifications and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Share knowledge and mentor junior team members to foster a culture of learning and growth.
  7. Misc:
    • Travel to customer site – up to 50%.
    • Overnight Travel required at times – Less than 10%.
    • Able to lift 50lbs or more.
    • Provide your own transportation.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in network engineering or a related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, etc.).
  • Experience with network hardware and software from vendors such as Aruba, Ruckus, Cisco, Extreme, Palo Alto, etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
  • Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Relevant certifications such as Aruba Certified Professional – Campus Access, Aruba Certified Professional – Switching, Ruckus Certified Wi-Fi Associate, Ruckus Certified Network Implementer, Extreme Networks Certified Specialist, CCNA, CCNP, Microsoft 365 Certification, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are a plus.
